A Galveston Elopement: The Sacred Heart Church to Galveston Beach
Kahea + Edgardo / December 1st, 2024
In Texas, it nevers matters what time of the month you go to the beach. It's almost always a beautiful day in Galveston and we had just that for this elopement!
Like most photographers, planning for weather is typically a juggle. Especially considering the beach where rain and wind is usually promised. However, we got beyond lucky for a December elopement! Apart from the weird weather since November, we all were blessed with not only a cool day, but sunny vibes and smiles all around!
Kahea and Edgardo, like many couples of the modern century, met online and kindled a kind of love that is not only intimate, but humble and warm. They both wanted that love shown in their photos and let me just say, "WOW!" I could feel the warmth and intimate love these two had for each other.
They wanted a location that wasn't too far from home, but felt like them on any given day.
Our adventure started at one of the most architecturally beautiful buildings in Galveston called The Sacred Heart Church. This beautiful church not only serves as a masterpiece to the beautiful architecture around Galveston, but it truly stands the test of time. After much discussion of where to go and have some stunning photos, this was one of the locations that was a must! The white, ornate columns, flying buttresses, to the old wooden doors, this Catholic church is so picturesque! With it being a Sunday evening, there were no services and we were able to walk right up to the front doors. For reference, this church is available to photos such as these! Please plan for services and community events accordingly by searching the church's website or Galveston News.
The Adventure Continues: Galveston Beach
After some stunning photos and time spent at the Sacred Heart Church, we ventured a little down the road to a public access point to the beach. With it being December on a Sunday evening, there wasn't much of a crowd at all. It really felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves and all 3 of us took in the gorgeous winter sunset. I always have felt skeptical of having a beach session in December. BOY WAS I WRONG! Good weather, the sun to warm you up, and little to no people?? It really was a little slice of paradise and we took in that beach sunset to its fullest!
We walked up and down the beach as the light continually changed for the sunset. I had Kahea and Edgardo do a series of different poses from walking into the sunset, to carrying her, hand in hand moments, and so much more. These 2 photos are truly my favorites and captures the glow and warmth from these two lovebirds. I seriously am so beyond happy that they chose the beach for their elopement because it made everything that more special. Galveston Beach is an interesting place and as many times I have ventured there, this time truly was different. The quietness and warmth that day was portrayed the whole time through the touch and love of Kahea and Edgardo. I wish you both the best in all of your days and marriage. May sunny days and beautiful beach sunsets always follow!!! <3
